In my role as a Senior Auditor at RSM I have continued to both undertake and lead on Internal Audit Engagements across the public sector. In furtherance of this role I have continued to work on developing my expertise in Data Analytics, and am currently in the process of obtaining a licence for the Alteryx data analytics software to further drive engagement with this software within the team.

As a Senior Internal Auditor, and the Southwest and Wales Audit Lead at Mazars, I was responsible for delivering and helping to manage the delivery of high quality audits across a range of sectors and audit areas. I was a leader in the Data Steering Group for Risk Consulting, which aimed to develop and promote the use of data analytics within Risk Consulting at Mazars. Through this role I developed various internal tools to help auditors implement data analytics, as well as promoting the integration of data analytics into audit fieldwork, both internally and to clients at the Board level. I also helped to develop the training offering to new graduates to increase their skills in using data analytics. I frequently consulted with other team members, as well as colleagues in the wider firm, on the use of data analytics, as well as working with and fielding queries on the data analytics software Idea.

This was a temporary position for a half-term at Abingdon school, during which time I planned and delivered activities and lessons, developed teaching resources, and helped develop extra-curricular activities.The job required me to rapidly learn fundamentals of teaching, class control, and resource creation, as well as to further develop my interpersonal skills. As such a great deal of self-learning and reflection, along with guided analysis and review, was required to ensure that standards were being achieved.My time with the school required me to further develop my time-keeping and organisation to handle the high work load and tight scheduling of a school environment. Much of my time was self-managed with me being responsible for ensuring that I was working to a high enough standard at the correct pace. Deadlines were often tight and the workload high, I had to ensure that my time was being best utilised and that I was working in the most efficient manner on the current projects. Proper planning and organisation was essential for managing multiple projects and prioritising the most urgent and important.

This role has developed my organisational skills and my ability to create an optimised workflow. Strict deadlines and high expectations required the ability to work efficiently and adapt quickly on the fly, and great emphasis is placed on maintaining high standards and speed.Most importantly this work has developed my customer service and interpersonal skills, requiring the ability to keep a good rapport with customers and staff members in a high stress and fast paced environment.

As an IT engineer my work involved the removal and setup of workplace IT systems, including towers, monitors, power systems, and other related IT equipment. This position was held in July 2017, and June 2018.In this role I assisted with the running of the SUPER program as a Demonstrator, and additionally as a Stem Ambassador during the June 2018 period. This involved assisting students as they undertook their activities, helping them to understand mathematical concepts and derivations, providing guidance to them on how best to undertake the exercise and present their information, as well as providing wellbeing support to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. I also assisted in setting up activities, analysing data, and some secretarial jobs.During the 2018 period of SUPER I administered an educational tool I had developed as part of my Physics Bachelors Project. This took the form of a computer based activity that I lead, with the assistance of the SUPER leader, Dr Katherine Inskip, and the other demonstrators.

This position involved the setup, running, and the operation of lighting and sound during spoken word events, live acts, club nights, and other events held at the Sheffield Student’s Union. As such I was required to have an in depth knowledge of the technical systems in use for Sound, Video, and Lighting, and the required safety procedures to run equipment and events. My role within TSC took several forms: working within a team as a general helper in support of other members, working in a specific role with associated responsibilities and tasks, and leading the crew as a Stage Manager. As a stage manager I was responsible for the safety and performance of the crew, and for ensuring that deadlines were met and events opened on time. As such this job required me to train my interpersonal skills in order to work with other people as part of a team, and to lead a team of people, in a high stress environment with tight deadlines.
