Delivery Consultant

Troy, Mi, Us

Responsible for the implementation process of manufacturing ERP software with major corporations.-Lead cross functional teams-Determine implementation guidelines using best practices and industry experience-Help organizations lean out processes and leverage tools in Plex to be more productive and effectiveWorking at Plex, provided me the experience to further understand where I could apply my entrepreneurial desire. Working with the largest customers and the demanding technology needs to enable them to be efficient, I realized that monolithic products, like Plex need help. They need to be extensible, flexible and adaptable so that they can support the users needs longer term. Replacing ERP isn’t something companies look forward to doing, so someone needs to figure out a way, to help those companies get the most from these products despite their inflexibility. This experience working with a configurable, minimally flexible software provided insights to what larger companies were struggling with during implementation because of the limited flexibility.

As the Engineering Manager for Progressive Metal responsibilities included all facets of APQP and product launch which required the ability to manage 1800 launches per calendar year. This position required some moderate travel and business relationship management with customers and suppliers in order to facilitate seamless product launch and on time PPAP completions. Responsibilities also include design and development of new systems and processes, lean manufacturing projects, continuous improvement efforts and streamlining the quote to production phase of the business in order to compete and remain competitive with such a high volume of product launches.Management of all new production and prototype builds which included oversight of the tooling department, sales, project management, design engineers, programmers indirect oversight of all manufacturing departments for pilot build activities.Involved in the acquisition of Surfit Metal products as well as opening up a new warehouse facility for storage and assembly work.

Jul 2005 - Aug 2008

Engineering Manager

Responsibilities included project management, process and product engineering and manufacturing support. I worked closely with product designers at companies like Ford, Chrysler, General Dynamics and others to improve product designs and DFM as well as drive costs out of new designs. While working at Milton, I was lucky enough to be the lead on numerous projects including the Dodge Ram 2003 refresh which included body side re-engineering efforts to support an almost delayed production launch. Also worked with Ford to redesign one of the first electric vehicle experiments the Think vehicle. Several other automotive and non automotive projects including a hydrogen generator project. I oversaw projects cradle to grave from estimate, to launch. Working with ownership to evaluate and justify capital expenditures such as new equipment, which lead to the companies first multi axis laser cutting machine which allowed us to bring much work in house. I designed fixtures for the laser that enabled us to get more out of that machine than it was ever designed to do. Working at Milton provided a wealth of experience which spanned manufacturing, management and business. This experience proved to me that I’m better suited “doing it all” than I was at doing just one thing, I believe this sparked my desire to become an entrepreneur and provide solutions to manufacturers that would nurture their success and growth.
