Chartered Management Accountant qualified in 2002. My strengths lie in making the world of finance simple for non-finance people to understand. My job is not accountant it is interpreter! I am happiest working closely with operational and commercial colleagues to help them understand what's driving the performance and the levers they can pull to improve it. If I feel I am simply there keeping the scores, I have failed in my duty.My current role is Head of Finance at The Cabrach Trust, encompassing The Cabrach Distillery CIC, building a distillery to support the future of a fragile rural community on the rugged edge of Speyside. Prior to this, I was Finance Manager for William Grant and Sons at the Dufftown site, responsible for the whole spectrum of financial management and control over the 3 distilleries (including the world's number 1 selling single malt), Capital Projects and investment planning and our Spirit Supply operation encompassing Coopering, Filling and Warehousing. I was also responsible for managing the Balance Sheet of the Visitor Attractions despite not being accountable for the P&L of that area.I worked as a Business Development Accountant in BAE Systems working on Tornado aircraft support contracts and MoD/DoD Pricing.I have also been a factory management accountant for McVities in the past and was known as 'the closest thing to an accountant we've been able to talk to' by the production team.Specialties: Business Development, Project Accounting, Budgeting and Forecasting, Operations Finance, Management Accounts
