This was a pioneering group to bridge the gap between software and hardware development teams and end operators and ensured thorough interoperability testing regimes were in place before products were approved for release to operators. Joined NATS on their Direct Entrant Graduate Scheme. Following 12 months of intensive training I was deployed to Project Manage various high-tech air traffic control engineering projects. This included a new meteorological reporting system for the tower at Heathrow (VOLMET), a new voice communications system for Oceanic Air Traffic Control in Prestwick and a new Aeronautical Fixed Telecommunications Network (AFTN) for the UK aviation community, located in the tower at Heathrow.
