As Senior Bid Writer, I gradually assumed more responsibility in the Bid Writing Team to prepare me for the management role. I led the team in the Bid Writing Manager’s absence, was lead writer on strategic bids (including the Oxfordshire bid where I owned four sections, with Amey ranked 1st on quality), and chaired Bid Writer forums to encourage creativity and innovative writing styles.

As Bid Writer, I provided dedicated writing support for bids across Amey. My remit included original writing based on journalist-style interviews of technical staff, copyediting, consistency checks and proofreading. I worked with the Knowledge Team to adapt existing material and make it client-specific, and was lead writer on the winning Hampshire Highways, Plymouth and Network Rail ‘6 to 4’ bids.

I managed the publication of five medical journals to the agreed schedules, SLAs, budgets and house style. As the link between publisher and academic society, I project-managed the production process, presented at editorial board meetings and provided data to support journal tenders.

A graduate role in which I supported over 20 Production Editors in the Science & Academic division.
