In addition to being a finance professor, I am also director of the Pepperdine Most Fundable Companies Initiative, which is a prestigious national startup competition. Startup companies are scored using the startup scoring algorithm pioneered by The Venture Alliance (TVA). This algorithm has been generously gifted to the school. I teach corporate and entrepreneurial finance. I am also the Director of the Pepperdine Private Capital Markets Project and the course designer for the Pepperdine Certificate in Film & Television Finance.

I am primary researcher and manager for the Private Capital Markets Project, which seeks to determine actual cost of capital to private businesses through surveying capital provides and the private firms they serve. The Private Capital Markets Project also publishes the quarterly Private Capital Demand Index and Private Capital Access Index, which are leading economic indicators. Frequent speaker at conventions and conferences and quoted in media outlets such as The Wall Street Journal, The Washington Post, BusinessWeek and CNBC.

Lead instructor and course designer for the Pepperdine Certificate in Film & Television Finance, an MBA-level executive education program that helps current and future entertainment finance professionals learn in-depth critical analysis and evaluation skills for transacting successful deals within the motion picture and television industries.

I assist in managing the project and association research on the capital markets for private firms. I present this research on the state of small business at various conferences and speaking engagements.

We are a mergers & acquisitions (M&A) advisory firm, both buy side and sell side. We also do business valuations for businesses of all sizes and industries.

As editor of the Journal of Entrepreneurial Finance, I manage the double-blind peer review process and publication process for the journal. I also promote the journal in order to maximize scholarly impact.
