About Craig Hohnberger

I truly believe in our motto that: Business Should Give Everyone More Life.™ "Everyone" = all stakeholders of a business: the owners, executives, employees, customers, suppliers, and the community they are in.Unfortunately, there are 2 major flaws in business that stop that from happening which we solve:1- The vast majority of businesses fail and liquidate; of those that make it to the next generation, most sell for a small fraction of their potential while most will fail during that generation. Why? They are missing some combination of: mastery of the financials and business model, wrong strategy, lack of systems, no differentiation, poor culture, can't find/keep the right people, too dependent on the owner/CEO.2- Gallup surveys show 64% of all employees in the U.S. are either disengaged or actively unengaged (2020) in their job. Gallup actually celebrated that result as the lowest on record. With work being so important, if 64% of people are not engaged, there is something seriously wrong. And their employers are not getting the full potential of those employees. We help solve both of those realities in our client's businesses and we guarantee results!BUSINESS OWNERS... if you want to work less, make more money and have greater impact, our business and executive coaching, training and leadership development programs will predictably accelerate your growth ... and we guarantee results.LEADERS OF B2B ORGANIZATIONS... if you want to differentiate from your competition, our strategic partner programs will get you new clients faster and easier and allow you to retain existing clients far longer.LOOKING FOR A NEW CAREER OR BUSINESS... we need more talented, passionate, A-players to join our team and cause. Entrepreneurial thinking, purpose driven, growth oriented leaders who love business, love impact and who want to make a real difference in people's lives. Opportunities can be from employee to independent contractor and even to franchise ownership (active or semi-passive). Favorite Quote: "Love others; pursue your dreams and never let fear stop you. Life is too short to look back one day with regrets. So go for it, whatever it is for you!" From an older lady named Rose sitting next to me on a long flight home when I was 30. Her life/career coaching combined with my journaling afterward and the subsequent choices I made changed the course of my life. I am forever grateful. My Top 5 (StrengthsFinder 2.0): Strategic | Activator | Ideation | Woo | Futuristic

Listed skills include Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Strategy, Coaching, and 46 others.

Shareholder | Season Ticket Holder | Life-Long Fan

Current

Green Bay, Wi, Us

What more can I say, a class-act organization & only pro sports team owned by the public. A fan all my life, it took decades to get season tix after dad put me on the waiting list when I was born. All to pay good money to sit outside in the frozen tundra for 3+ hours with 78k other crazy fans!! How cool would it be if your organization had that kind of loyalty?

Dec 1997 - Present

Director Supply Chain

Newell Brands - Anchor Hocking Glass Division

Last stop of the corporate soul searching journey as I finally grasped Rose's advice from that plane ride years earlier & realized that going for it and looking back with no regrets was more important to me than climbing a corporate ladder, so I finally jumped ship to build my own ladder - on my terms. So grateful I did. I pinch myself to this day.Responsible for all aspects of the supply chain plus contingency and safety planning for a union negotiation projected to be divisive (thankfully it wasn't). Implemented reverse auctions to achieve a double-digit reduction in commodity costs during an up-market. Clients served: Walmart, Kmart, Sears, Bath & Body Works, Bed Bath & Beyond

2000 - 2001 ~1 yr

Director Lean Mfg & Materials

Allenton, Wi, Us

Still during my career soul searching years. Experienced the unique dynamics of a family owned company for the first time and realized that having my own company was definitely in my future if I was to be truly happy & fulfilled in my career.Got to learn the metal fabrication industry in a highly technical, engineering driven, quality-focused job-shop environment serving large tech companies. Clients served: Cisco, IBM, Intel, Dell, Sun, Oracle, Storage Technology, HP

1998 - 2000 ~2 yrs

Business Unit Manager - Global Tubes & Detectors Division

Chicago, Us

During my "career soul searching" years, I went to GE to stop traveling and learn in a world-class company. Six Sigma impacted business dramatically. Quality skyrocketed so volume plummeted as original equipment lasted 8x longer. It was very cool how quickly Jeffrey Immelt and Jack Welch changed our entire business model to monetize it in a big way and drive significant profitability. Likely why Jeff got the nod when Jack retired. While there, I realized the personal sacrifice required to climb the GE ladder professionally wasn't worth it to me and my family. It was during the time Welch had a very public divorce as did Gary Wendt (GE Finance), Immelt worked 110 hrs per week and my boss was only home a day or two per month.

1998 - 1998

Production & Inventory Control Manager | Purchasing Manager

Newell Brands - Office Products Division

A life-defining conversation with Rose, an older woman sitting next to me on a flight from San Juan to O'Hare (after a 2 week business trip where my daughter learned how to walk), challenged everything I believed about a successful career and kicked off a several year soul searching journey as it took me a few years to fully digest & act on her advice. While there, I experienced how important culture is; got my first exposure to "business coaching" (our president had one) and the results it helped us achieve (3x top-line growth while growing operating income from 5% to 21%) in just a few short years. I thought, "how do I get a gig like that someday?" Got to meet and work with Mike Mckay who joined ActionCOACH a few years later and owns one of our most successful franchises today.Played an active role integrating & turning around ("Newellizing") several new acquisitions including Rogers, Keene, Rolodex and Eldon Office Products driving record efficiencies, customer service levels and inventory turns while helping us earn perennial supplier of the year to our major customers. Clients: Walmart, Staples, Office Max, Office Depot, Sams Club, Costco, Kmart, Target, Boise Cascade

1995 - 1998 ~3 yrs

Manufacturing Supervisor | Master Scheduler

Newell Brands - Ez Paintr / Shur Line Division

Learned the value of strong leadership and a commitment to a great high-performance culture. Getting the right people on the bus, giving them the resources and trusting them to drive the business forward makes all the difference and is the X-factor that makes business fun, attracts more A-players and drives sustainable results. A philosophy I live by to this day.Newell (pre-Rubbermaid) was one of the top 20 stocks on the NYSE and stuck to their knitting in terms of culture and growth strategy. It was a fun time and paint-brushes were a cash-cow with 70% margins. Lost a lot of respect for Walmart after Sam Walton died and the new leadership forced us to source a bunch of sku's from China to repackage in our factory so they could still promote "made in America" on their commercials.Clients served: Home Depot, Lowes, Ace Hardware, Do It Best, Walmart, Kmart, Sears

1991 - 1995 ~4 yrs

Veteran - Desert Storm

Fort Liberty, Nc, Us

Enlisted to help pay for college... ended up in Nurnberg Germany for Desert Storm and got to travel (Rome, Paris, Zurich, Frankfort, etc.). Skied in the Alps, learned to appreciate warm bier in Bavaria and learned just how much the U.S. dominates things. Stayed in the old Nazi SS headquarters (now a U.S. Army base), met some amazing friends and came to appreciate just how blessed we are to have been born in this country, as imperfect as it is. I am more of a Patriot having experienced what I did there.

1986 - 1992 ~6 yrs

Manufacturing Team Leader

Monterey, Ca, Us

Very 1st person at a greenfield start-up of a new pkg facility where I approved drawings, decided where to use galvanized versus stainless steel, hired and managed the shop workers and so much more. Crazy to give a kid fresh out of college that level of decision making (I likely cost them an extra $500k in stainless where galvanized would have been sufficient), but I learned a ton fast and got some great experience. 2/3 of capacity was tied to "fad" products that would die in the market within 2 yrs so we all lost our jobs when they shut down operations. It was a great business lesson watching Green Giant execs sell 26 more plants over the next several yrs to co-packers as they realized their core competitive strengths were marketing and new product development, not packaging.Fun thing... Grand Metropolitan (wine & spirits: J&B, Smirnoff, Bailey's) owned us and forced HR to serve alcohol at the Christmas party. Clients served: Kroger, Giant Eagle, Safeway, Aldi, IGA, Piggly Wiggly, SuperValu, Roundy's

May 1990 - Nov 1991

Intern - Engineering

Kansas City , Ks, Us

Gave up chances to work at Walt Disney World and study in Sydney, AUS to do the "practical" thing and instead did an 8 month internship at a canning company. Got offered a job after college, but wanted to be with a company committed to being #1 in their industry and FreshLike was comfortable at #3, watching and trying to copy what worked from #1 Green Giant and #2 Birds Eye. Reflecting back, the "life experience" of Sydney and Disney would have been far more valuable.
