I am a professional and highly motivated operator/facility engineer with an excellent practical working knowledge of health and safety and an education to degree level. I have experience of working on a top tier COMAH site in the chemical industry and am proficient in the use of all process plant and associated equipment including the Emerson Delta V DCS system and permits to work. I have excellent safety awareness and during my career I have achieved a NEBOSH general certificate, NEBOSH HSE certificate in process safety management and NEBOSH certificate in fire and risk assessment as well as being involved in the safety teams in both a top tier COMAH site and Durham and Darlington Fire and Rescue service which have helped me to work safely under the most extreme pressure and circumstances. I have 11 years of experience working under pressure in search and rescue situations and was trusted with being temporarily promoted to the role of crew manager during which I was in charge of a crew of 5 people at major operational incidents. I am a highly responsible and disciplined individual and can adapt to any challenge I am faced with and have thrown myself into various challenges during my working career that have allowed me to learn new skills and improve myself as an individual. I enjoy forging working relationships with others and have acted as a team leader covering sickness during my time as an operator. Production Technician
I was employed as a shift production technician working on behalf of INEOS on the BASF owned Hexamethylenediamene (HMD) production facility. The facility consists of three plant areas, each involved in the process of HMD production. The Hydrogen plant uses reforming technology to produce pure Hydrogen. The synthesis plant consists of a High-Pressure reactor system in which the pure Hydrogen is reacted with imported Adiponitrile to produce crude HMD. The final stage in the process is the refining plant, where the crude HMD undergoes several clean up stages through various columns to remove any by-products and further purify the produced HMD. Key roles & responsibilities;• Control Room Operator – Emerson DeltaV DCS System• Preparing/authorising/issuing Permits to Work and Hot Work Permits• Co-ordinating Permits to Work for Hydrogen area in full site TAR shutdown• Plant start-up, recovery and shut down activities• Use of trends and alarm management to maintain optimum plant performance• Monitoring and safe operation of plant equipment and utilities including the steam reformer, reactor, compressors, cooling systems, boilers, scrubbers, various columns and all associated equipment• Outside operator duties – daily checks, routine samples, first line maintenance• Plant isolations, design and implementation. Use of Lock Out, Tag Out System• Identifying, reporting and troubleshooting of plant faults and issues• Utilise safety skills to take part in safety meetings and improve plant safety• Mentoring of new trainees • Ensuring final product quality by making safe plant adjustments in accordance with sample results• Emergency response for any site incidents.
Firefighter
I worked for DDFRS from obtaining my degree in 2006 until the June 2017. The role involved dealing with any emergency that arose. This could range from fire, road traffic collision, rescue from height, hazardous materials, and rescue of animals among many other things.
