He served as a member of the Board of Directors and was independently hired to assist the company with brand strategy and business development from 2006 to 2008. The company was acquired by Nestle Waters in 2011.

Lieberman founded Sunbelt Distributors with his former college roommate in 1977.For 22 years, Lieberman ,as co-founder and CEO of Sunbelt Distributors, Inc., he was responsible for growing his Houston-based company into one of the US’s largest independent marketers and distributors of ice creams and specialty frozen products--generating $75m in revenues. Sunbelt was recognized by INC. Magazine in 1984,85,86 as one the fastest growing privately held companies in the country. Lieberman managed sales and marketing activities for 200 employees & 3,500 customers located throughout Texas and Louisiana. Sunbelt represented several leading U.S packaged food companies including Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, Dreyer’s Ice Cream, Nestle USA, Healthy Choice,Haagen-Dazs,Colombo Yogurt, Dannon, M&M Mars, Wolfgang Puck Foods, Celentano Foods, Kraft Foods, General Mills, Breyer’s, Minute Maid.Lieberman “discovered” Haagen Dazs in 1976 in the Bronx New York, securing marketing and distribution rights for South Texas. He became a general partner and franchisee of the first Haagen-Dazs Ice Cream Shoppe in Houston in 1982. His company also became the first independent distributor of Colombo soft-serve frozen yogurt, supplying over 1,300 outlets. Colombo became the market's dominant brand under his management.Lieberman’s strong reputation for building brands led to his launching Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream products in Texas, achieving a 52% share of Texas' super premium market within 3 years. In 1994, Dreyer's Grand Ice Cream recognized Mr. Lieberman for his leadership role in the most successful new market introduction in their company’s history,growing the brand to a 13.4% share of the market within 3 months of launch. Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream acquired Sunbelt Distributors in 1999.
