Each year St. Lawrence College welcomes a diverse and multicultural student body from across Canada and internationally. Funded by the students, the goal of the Cornwall Student Union is to represent and promote their rights and interests while enhancing their student life experience. An annually appointed executive team reporting to a student elected board of directors, outlines objectives, sets goals and engages the student body, addressing their concerns and supporting their causes. Overseeing all aspects of the business, operations, finance, administration and human resources, I provide coaching to the executive team, supporting them with strategic expertise, historical context and corporate practices. In conjunction with the executives, I coordinate biannual orientation days and monthly events both on and off campus. Performing operational and financial analysis, I provide recommendations to the board of directors which form the foundation of the CSU’s annual report and budget preparations.

The Community Integration Through Co-Operative Education program is a two year certificate designed for adults with developmental and intellectual disabilities who desire to further their education. Students have the opportunity to complete a bespoke program of study, comprised of courses available from St. Lawrence College's program offerings. In addition to enhancing their academic skills, students will also refine their abilities through various work placements on and off campus, with graduates prepared for a variety of entry level positions. Alternatively, students may be eligible to enter other college programs if they meet the admission requirements. As a Learning Specialist, I am responsible for assessing the academic capabilities of students and collaborating with program lecturers to modify curriculum content accordingly. Attending classes, I support students with note taking and their comprehension of course content, which is further discussed during weekly tutorials where I also provide assistance with assignments, exam preparation and self management.

With an ageing workforce and low labour participation rates in youth threatening economic growth and stability in the SD&G and P-R regions, businesses are experiencing increasing difficulties in recruiting staff that meet their needs. Conversely, unemployment rates in the region are rising because prospective candidates are either qualified for occupations where there is little demand or they do not have the skills companies want. The EOTB endeavored to address this imbalance by administering the Employer One Survey to businesses across the five eastern counties. Collaborating with community partners, I was responsible for tailoring and distributing the survey and marketing the project via social media, print, newspaper and radio advertising. The results of the survey were collated to form the basis of a report I co-authored, detailed with recommendations to the business community and education sector on how the skills gap can be bridged to develop a workforce that can transcend industries and boost the economy.

The demand for content in the digital age is greater than ever before. Consumers want the means to access material anytime, anywhere and fast. Broadcasters need solutions that meet the needs of their audience. Digital delivery is the answer. Promoting the economic and delivery efficiencies of the technology, I transitioned numerous clients throughout Europe from tape to file delivery, eliminating shipping costs and reducing turnaround time. Additionally, I attended monthly vendor workshops to enhance my knowledge of procedures and technologies to refine workflows and acted as the department’s SME for standard operating procedures.

Managed the content delivery of material to linear and VOD platform clients across the EMEA territory; liaised daily with vendors and internal departments to coordinate the movement of video and audio elements for the completion of domestic and foreign language masters. As a series specialist, I was responsible for ensuring the accelerated delivery of major US titles across Europe, turning around delivery 24 hours after their North American broadcast. Assisting senior management, I collaborated on a project to retrieve and redistribute subtitle files from clients’ and third party vendors to reduce department expenditure. Maintained a strong knowledge of the Disney brand and the organization’s aim to reach audiences of all ages, young and old worldwide.

Promoted to the position after three months in my previous role. Collaborated with departments across the channel to coordinate the availability of program material to advertise and market new titles and series premiering in the UK. In conjunction with programming, ensured all transmission material adhered to broadcast guidelines and technical standards. Supervised the traffic team handling the delivery of content to the channel’s European broadcaster. Represented the department at the channel’s monthly production meeting, discussing strategies and tactics to reach the network’s goal of becoming the leading name in science and nature programming.

Oversaw the subtitling/dubbing and delivery of transmission material to the channel’s broadcast partner in Europe and Israel. Ensured script availability on the network’s database for vendor retrieval to complete reversioning and performed QC’s on all broadcast premieres prior to delivery. Confirmed invoices and resolved disputes for finance.

Assisting operations and creative departments across the company, I was responsible for processing requests and retrieving video material for editorial and research purposes. Additionally I was accountable for ensuring the readiness of TX material for playout 24 hours in advance for channels across the network.
