Lead scientist for early feasibility clinical studies in the fields of Cardiac Rhythm Management, Cardiac Electrophysiology, and Heart Failure in a field role based in Leipzig, Germany. Collaborated daily with world-renowned physicians at the Leipzig Heart Center and Abbott (formerly St. Jude Medical) scientists in North America, Europe, and Asia on all aspects of the research pipeline from project development and regulatory approvals through publication and product development.

Designed clinical trial of non-invasive, multi-modal auditory and tactile stimulation therapy for the treatment of intractable tinnitus. Developed study protocol, patient informed consent, case report forms, and stimulation paradigm based on findings from PhD research.

Completed PhD under Dr. Hubert Lim in biomedical engineering with a thesis entitled "Invasive and noninvasive brain stimulation strategies for the treatment of tinnitus." Performed auditory neurophysiology experiments focusing on the functional connectivity of the central auditory system. Experienced with setting up a new laboratory, animal surgeries, electrophysiology, neural stimulation and recording, histological slice preparation, algorithm coding, neural data analysis, and peer-reviewed manuscript writing.

Evaluated early-stage medical device technologies to determine their path to commercialization. Researched and wrote due diligence reports including a description of the technology, an analysis of the IP space and freedom to operate opinion, the clinical and reimbursement considerations, and the likely regulatory pathway for clients including domestic and international multi-conglomerate corporations and research institutions.

Conducted brain-computer interface research in the laboratory of neurosurgeon Dr. Eric Leuthardt. Collected electrocorticographic (ECoG) data from the surface of the brain of patients with intractable epilepsy as they perfomed various motor tasks. Analyzed neural data using custom signal processing scripts to optimize patient control of external devices such as a computer or wheelchair.

Collaborated with a diverse team of engineers and physicians to develop an innovative brain retraction system to be used during complex neurosurgical procedures. Researched the technology and IP space, brainstormed several innovative device designs, modeled the system in SolidWorks, and fabricated a working prototype. Presented our findings to executives of a major medical device firm for a possible licensing deal.

Designed and developed a low-cost, carbon-fiber handcycle for use by veterans at Walter Read Medical Center. Modeled parts in SolidWorks, constructed a working prototype using 3D printing technology, and used failure testing on the final device. Won first place for best research in the annual Human Engineering Research Laboratory conference.
