Senior role reporting into the company directors; the role is focused on the strategic management of all functions and activities relating to health, safety, environment and training for a public service transport provider which includes multiple workstreams, projects and initiatives. My role also includes the management of the ISO audits linked to developing an integrated management system underpinned by improving the ISO 9001 Quality Audit processes.The Health and Safety strategy includes establishing improved risk assessments standards and controls, rejuvenating safety culture and engagement and attaining the ISO 45001 certification. Environment and Facilities strategy has including managing a CDM project linked to the introduction of electric fleet, seeking opportunities to reduce carbon impacts and improve sustainability including onsite electric car chargers, proposals for solar panels and monitoring environmental aspects and impacts linked to the ISO 14001 certification. Continued building on the strategy identified in my previous Training and Development Mangers through developing a training brand called LEAD (Leadership Engagement and Development) allowing me to create and delivering a leadership programme to circa 20 managers on site, plus continuing to upskilling Engineering teams linked to training on the new electric vehicles and being recognised as ‘a shining light in the company’ by the Managing Director for the achievements within the Training Academy initiative (see Training and Development Manager below).

Management role responsible for training and development across all areas of the business; having joined during COVID-19 lockdowns my first set of actions was to understand my own and my stakeholders key priorities, develop relationships with my training team, understand the current standards of training linked to DVSA requirements, complete a skills gap analysis focused on legal risks such as fork lift training and first aiders and quickly establish processes for the re-boarding of furloughed team members including bus driving familiarisation for circa 250 team members in quick succession.After completing the business-critical elements, I then developed the Training Academy initiative and brand for the company allowing me to establishing a new standard, vibe and improved learning experience for driver training and new starters which has continued to be enhanced over the years to include attaining the standards required to open a DVSA In-House Theory Test Centre, launching a driving instructor training programme and developing video training focused on driving standards.

Senior Supply Chain Health and Safety Officer responsible multiple UK sites covering approximately 3,000 team members and 200 leaders. My key focus is developing, managing and delivering the strategic health and safety plan, maintaining legal compliance and driving change through engagement, data analysis and cultural initiatives. My actions have resulted in an 83% reduction in RIDDOR rates, an increase in health and safety engagement along with improved safety standards underpinned by audit compliance, credible data and transparency.Overall responsibility for the Supply Chain Health and Safety strategy across multiple sites supporting a range of key stakeholders and senior business leaders. Management of the DC Health and Safety teams at multiple sites focusing daily activities and projects together to promote Health, Safety and Wellbeing whilst improving alignment and consistency.Working in collaboration with other business partnerships to deliver multidisciplinary projects and a range of outcomes in line with various industry standards.

Providing advice, guidance and solutions in an industrialised warehousing and distribution environment. Managing relationships ranging from senior leadership teams, unions, contractors and other key stakeholders.Ensuring legal compliance through actively monitoring risks and control measures.Training, development and supporting change to improve safety culture.

Responsibility for creating, facilitating and delivering a range of learning and development solutions across various levels of management and business leaders which includes:- Personal development plans,- Leadership framework support,- Manpower planning and succession planning,- Bespoke programme development for individuals and teams including a focus on operational excellence and managing costs,- Arranging a range of courses internally and externally to ensure occupational competence,- Promoting learning to all ranges of abilities from entry level through to post degree level.

My role involved management coaching and support, delivering training to individuals and groups. Creating bespoke training along with monitoring a learning management system to ensure competencies and reviews are completed to Investor in People standards for a site of approximately 1,000 individuals.

Initially I set up the stock control department within the Magor (South Wales) Distribution Centre as part of the corporate expansion, this was followed by a promotion into operational management with fulfilment for several years.I then took the lead on developing the training and HR functions within the distribution centre, to build alignment and consistency internally and inline with other parts of the organisation which linked to Investor in People awards corporately.Another opportunity became available to me where I was then able set up the Internet Fulfilment department within the DC, whilst still managing the training function before moving into the learning and development function full-time.All the positions involed performance management, performance reviews and financial management.

Assistant Manager for Wilkinson at the Leek branch as part of my development with the company. Responsibilities involved all elements of retail operations from staff management through to customer service and stock availability. Moved (internally) to train for the opportunity to open a new distribution centre based in Newport, South Wales.

UK based "New Store" Support Supervisor, covering various roles with retail including Assistant Manager, Admin Supervisor, Stock Supervisor, Till/Cash Office Supervisor and Stock File Controller.Including training and support new stores in over 30 locations within the UK during my time one the team. Additionally I was utilised to look at "problematic" stores who were not achieving budgets to see if there were any stock file corruptions or trading/availability issues.

First years with Wilkinson were based at Stafford branch, where I started part time but soon became part of the management team. Positions held included: Count Supervisor, Evening Supervisor, Section Leader, Stock File Controller.Additionally I was a duty manager with responsibilities of open and closing the store as required. This also involved till supervision, cash office operations and deputising in the absence of the store managers.
