Canexus hired me to increase their market share within the oil and gas industry, and to maintain their current accounts in Canada and United States. My experience and expertise in business development and the use of chemistry in oil and gas exploration provided Canexus a competitive advantage. - Within the ‘well service’ market, in both Canada and the United States, I grew our market share of hydrochloric acid supply from 60% to more than 80% with well service companies. - I managed sales accounts of more $27M in annual revenue. My responsibilities included contract management and negotiations. - I managed a team of four.

My initiative to complete my MBA while working full-time for Calfrac was recognized by senior management, and I was invited to evaluate and develop the supply chain to expand operations outside of North America. I developed the supply chain to support for the expansion of well services into Argentina and Australia, with supply points in Houston, China and Europe. The Argentina project began in 2013 with cement services. My ability to develop and maintain relationships allowed me to implemented a 'bill-of-material' tracking forecasting process that incorporated sales, operations and supply chain.

This role encompassed the management of R&D projects with external labs, and later managing teams of technicians and researchers within our internal lab. I was tasked with developing new and updating existing fluid system chemistries to meet evolving environmental regulations. I lead more than 15 research and development projects annually, with a team of 22 technicians and researchers.

Cascades Plastiques invited me to join their team to expand their product line, address quality issues and develop new products. During this time, I developed an 'oxi-biodegradable' Styrofoam meat tray. This product was produced on current equipment. The oxi-biodegradable tray was later contracted to St. Hubert restaurant chain in Quebec. I also developed a visual test for comparing foam cell quality using a child's microscope and a felt marker. This was a key test in addressing turkey tray failures. As my last example: I worked with plastic recycling to improve static control for plastic lumber. Although small static charge will keep spiders away, larger charges create sparks between people greater than two inches.

Cascades Lupel was looking for a product developer who could both do R&D and be a technical representative to their US vinyl flooring customers. Having a doctorate in chemistry and being fully bilingual was essential for this role. I worked with France operations (Cascades Saint-Marie) and US customers as the technical representative for our US customers. I was responsible for technical chemical/technical optimization for cost and performance on the felt paper machine. I organized and lead several machine trials for polymers, coatings, and additives. In partnership with our sister plant in France, we developed a fire-retardant poster paper for the France metro system and Toronto Transit Commission (TTC).

Developed analytical techniques to monitor the performance of wood fiber whitening chemistries.
