Provided leadership and guidance for the Institution's financial operations to assist in ensuring continuity of business operations. Most notably,- Provided leadership and guidance to staff of 8 (including Deputy CFO, Payroll Director, Controller, and Financial Aid Director) to ensure the existence of adequate internal controls, and accurate and timely reporting relating to Treasury functions, Contributions, Accounts Payable, Student Billing, Financial Aid, and Payroll;- Discussed financial trends and forecasts, and provided strategic solutions to the Institution's Senior Operational Management and the Board of Directors; and- Directed all Cash Management functions.

 Provided leadership and guidance for the Institution’s financial operations with a staff of up to 32 to ensure compliance with New York State reporting regulations and deadlines. Acted as the major Finance contact in securing a 5-year banking agreement that resulted in savings of approximately 10-15% ($20K-$30K) for the institution. Key Task Force member to hire a new Investment Advisement Firm for the Foundation – since the hire, investment portfolio has increased more than 50% (approx. $44 mil.), and investment advisor fees have decreased more than 50% (approx. $200K). Provided oversight and ensured compliance with GAAP reporting requirements for the Institution’s Foundation, its lending institutions, and the State University of New York. Appointed Treasurer of the Institution’s Biotechnology entity, BioBAT, by the Institution’s President.

 Ensured accurate and timely reporting by: - Managing the month-end close process; - Verifying that budgets/forecasts were accurately input onto the financial system; and - Reviewing and analyzing Balance Sheet and Income Statement trends Prepared a quarterly financial package for presentation to lending institutions to ensure compliance with loan covenants.

 Enabled the Organization to re-establish public company status by: - Overseeing the completion of 2 years of financial audits; - Budgeting and managing cash on a weekly basis during the Organization’s restructure period; - Assisting in the preparation of Form 10-K, and providing data for the completion of necessary documents for the Company to re-list as a public company.

 Led transition to a New Accounting System (NetSuite) by overseeing the input of historical data onto NetSuite, and verifying the accuracy of financial reports in NetSuite. Provided oversight of task force to capture anticipated savings of $3-5K per month by migrating all communication/IT functions from outside affiliated companies to in-house management.  Maintained positive relations with shareholders and investors by addressing concerns and requests for additional information.

 Improved internal controls and numerous functions by implementing formal process for recording accruals at month-end, preparing bank reconciliations, and rectifying long-overdue payables.  Succeeded in helping to shift management culture to a “for profit” philosophy despite not-for-profit status, by demonstrating true cost of running organization within challenging economic climate.
