After 33 years in the regional publishing industry and 15 prior years in radio broadcasting in West Michigan, I retired in 2020. In 2022, I created and produced a new festival for my hometown of Holland, Michigan with a good friend and nearly a hundred volunteers. The Holland Waterfront Celtic Festival & Highland Games exceeded all expectations and is now an annual event. (This is a non-paid “labor of love” with a 501(C)(3) non-profit that we created in 2021.)Also as a volunteer I serve as:* Director of the non-profit Michigan Shipwreck Research Association. We discover and document shipwrecks on the Great Lakes. Cool, huh?* Governor of the Society of Mayflower Descendants in Michigan. * Past President of the West Michigan Chapter, Michigan Society of the Sons of the Amerian Revolution.* President of the non-profit Rich Family Association, based in Wellfleet, MA. We share genealogy information and hold an annual reunion in MA.* Parade marshal for the annual Tulip Time Festival in Holland, MI — Keeps me in touch with the festival that I participated in for 28 years as a city council member.In the past, I was an elected city councilman in Holland, MI for 28 years (Seven 4-year terms), with experience as the liaison to the city's electric utility board, zoning board, and others. I chose not to run for re-election in 2009.Vickie and I have been married 47 years and have two awesome daughters, a great son-in-law, and a precious granddaughter!Specialties: Designing marketing & advertising campaigns, strategizing political campaigns, designing and managing social media campaigns, traditional media marketing, etc. I get stuff done!
