    I love to learn, and CMTC gave me a chance to really focus on consulting with small/medium-sized manufacturers (SMMs) in the San Joaquin Valley. The biggest takeaway from my nearly 4 years is how much manufacturers remind me of farmers. They both get up and work hard every day. They both need to constantly adapt to changing regulations and economic conditions (supply chain, labor shortage, tariffs, PAGA, COVID...). And they both stubbornly persist. I admire the hell out of them!I also learned about so many tools, training subjects and training funds, grants, and tax credits that can help my clients. Using this knowledge brought many millions of dollars to our local manufacturers. These resources trained hundreds of employees who could then add value to their employer and make or save hundreds of millions in increased revenue or reduced costs. I also loved working with my fellow CMTC Client Advisors around the state, who are as enthusiastic about helping their clients as I have been.Why did I leave? I moved to Greenville, South Carolina along with my son, DIL, and 3 grandkids. The SJ Valley needs a local person to stay connected with the client manufacturers and partners. But I'll still be helping client businesses in my new role. Now I can take what I've learned and help small and medium-sized manufacturers (along with other types of businesses) anywhere.
