Responsible for the acquisition of capital assets, steel, glass, sliding doors, plastics, wood/laminate products, tooling for plastic & metal products. Analysis/implementation of Terms & Conditions, annual and consignment contracts. Total cost analysis for projects such as; vendor managed programs, nitrogen generation, point of use delivery, outsourcing of mfg resources & offshore sourcing, resulting in attainable cost recovery goals. Evaluated MRP system to determine material needs and manage order quantities for on time delivery to reduce inventory.  Team Leader for outsourcing mfg resources, product standardization initiative and cost reduction planning resulting in $1.3M savings. o Mfg outsourcing of select sub-assemblies and non-refrigerated display cases.o Product standardization & consolidation of similar components & materials of purchased & mfg parts to increase efficiencies & decrease material waste. Led the continuous improvement team in the implementation of the Toyota Product Development System, helping to reduce product development time by 75%) Implemented a program to recycled wood, office paper, cardboard, plastics, copper and aluminum waste that generated a $40,000 savings the first year. (Landfill expense was over $80,000/yr) Negotiated contracts with materials sources such as steel, wood and plastic products attaining a 7% savings in an $11M annual budget.

Responsibilities included supplier selection, negotiation of price structures & development of cost containment strategies to ensure best total cost. Developed long-term contracts with strategic supply partners, facilitating early supplier involvement in NPD (New Product Development) & implementation of supplier alignment visitations to assess supplier performance. Conducted in-depth research to identify total cost of offshore sourcing. Enlisted business planning and forecasting as well as inventory control employing a MRP system. Designed and implemented enhanced supplier development procedures to ensure supplier relationships are sustained with integrity.  Overhauled Bill of Material, Planning & Inventory processes to improve mfg efficiencies. The improved efficiencies also resulted in a “Prefect” on-time shipment record. Developed global sourcing procedures utilizing INCO terms, letters of credits, customs documents and commercial invoices with sources in NAFTA countries, China, Germany, Switzerland and Japan to insure SMS financial interests were secure. Initiated and maintained value-based relationships with vendors such as factory supply programs instead of buying through distribution, annual and consignment contracts, generating 15% savings.  Instituted a component upgrade program for old style mixers that realizing an $8500 savings & an 8-week delivery improvement.
