I learned to write BASIC from a library book 10 years before I got a computer science degree. It took another 5 years before I truly learned how to be a good software engineer in startups and scale ups making marketing tech. The pivotal moment in my career came when startup I co-founded ran out of the $1M in venture funding we raised and ended up shutting down.We had an amazing team and shipped like crazy. But it wasn't enough of the right stuff to keep us in business.That sent me into a fanatical dive into the discipline of Product and how you figure out what the right thing to build is and how to market and sell it.After 6 years in product leadership and leading teams through 2 exits, I went out on my own, rekindled my engineering and data skills and started helping companies at the intersection of tech, product, and data.Now I focus on helping mature SaaS companies between ~5 and 75 million in revenue to help build the organizational muscles needed to grow more profitably. I apply the framework I've developed to give them the leverage to get their product, tech, data, and then *sales* teams un-stuck and powering profitable growth.My mission is to ease the pain and difficultly of making software products and bring back more of the progress and fun into the lives of people who make them and as a result the people who market and sell them.---- Outside of my work, I am really focused on my family these days - our two young boys and our pack of animals my rescue volunteering spouse has brought home.I love to read and listen to podcasts, run and weight train, and work on the occasional DIY home project even though I should probably hire it out along with all the rest of it. I'm a retired (for now) bar band guitarist and singer, and riding in the two seater indycar at the speedway is probably the most exhilarating thing I've ever done - yes more than skydiving.
