Per the terms of DTDO’s acquisition of Relay Foods, I stayed on to provide oversight during the integration. In this executive role, I was responsible for financial and accounting functions. Specifically, I oversaw the development of a robust quarterly planning and budgeting process from the ground up; I drove enhanced financial decision-making across the organization (including PTO policies, fleet management, production performance, and pickup location profitability); and led the BI team to develop KPIs that accurately measure business performance and drive appropriate action.

As head of BD, I sought potential acquirers, supported Board-level negotiations, performed extensive valuation analysis and cap table modeling, and coordinated due diligence activities culminating in the sale to Door to Door Organics. In addition, I managed the Business Intelligence team, driving greater consistency in data presentation and analysis, and culminating in a data-driven strategy shift that catalyzed a a 4X increase in the number of new home delivery subscribers in the first 5 months.

As the company’s cofounder, I oversaw the hiring and training of staff, negotiated contracts with service providers, leveraged relationships with global C-level executives to bolster research, source ideas, and attract personal investments, and I researched and evaluated North American and European public equity investments across the market cap spectrum.Notably, I generated significant alpha, both long (+7%) and short (+2%), through fundamental research and superior stock selection, in addition to proactively managing risk through both qualitative and quantitative analysis to protect investment capital.

After serving as a senior analyst for this relative-value equity management firm, I was promoted to managing director in 2007. In this role, I had portfolio management responsibility for one-third of the actively managed capital and improving relative annual returns (alpha) from (1%) prior to joining the firm to an average in excess of 9% per year. During my tenure, assets under management grew from $40MM to $330MM through both marketing efforts and strong investment returns.
