Research Assistant

Bristol, United Kingdom

I worked alongside Dr Phillip Morgan and his research team in the Department of Health and Social Sciences (Psychology) at the University of the West of England (UWE) - Bristol on a number of projects within the areas of Cognitive Psychology and Human Factors. Key projects involved investigating the effects of interruptions and distractions on task performance. My role as a Research Assistant entailed tasks such as: conducting literature reviews, contributing to the design of experiments, recruiting participants, running experiments, data analysis using SPSS, and interpreting findings. I also contributed to the dissemination process and am currently an author on a conference paper and on a manuscript submitted to a peer-reviewed journal. Also, given that many of the participants were fellow students, this provided me the opportunity to promote research within psychology and to provide students with useful advice when studying for degrees with a scientific component at university. My roles have been mainly voluntary in nature again demonstrating my passion to further develop my knowledge and skills in areas of psychology as well as my general research methods and statistical skills.
