Aim: improve drug delivery for cancer treatment by combining focused ultrasound, magnetically-targeted microbubbles and novel passive acoustic monitoring techniquesOutcomes:- Demonstrated that magnetic targeting could be used to enhance microbubble-induced cavitation (presented ASA 2013, ISTU 2014; published PMB 2015) in tissue-mimicking phantoms- Produced novel biocompatible setup (published UMB 2015); applied to chemotherapy delivery (published Adv. Mat. 2015) and siRNA transfection of cancer cells (Adv. Health. Mat. 2017) - Developed real-time monitoring platform for in vivo experiments and used for validation with fluorescence microscopy and MR imaging in mice (presented ASA 2015; published UMB 2016)
