CurrentI first heard of Bitcoin in 2009 but did not make an effort to become part of the adoption community until April 2011. It took me another 2 years just to start to understand what a significant advancement both BTC & Blockchain were, so I started to take it more seriously in 2013 and later, Ethereum in 2015. I continued to learn and share my experience with altcoins and the possibilities for blockchain applications, particularly for Democratic Enablememt, through various groups I have built or joined over the years. I have possibly made more mistakes than most who have been in the space as long as I have and beleive none of us will ever understand all potential implications of Bitcoin alone, let alone blockchain technology; but feel I am getting there slowly.The Proof of Work consensus protocol of bitcoin is the most profound advancement in the digital information age, possibly even more than TCP/IP. Anyone (usually big-egos with low-ability in Finance-sector IT depts) parroting the cliche "Blockchain, but not bitcoin" exposes themselves as a bitcoin, blockchain and a general crypto ignoramus, since bitcoin is the killer application of blockchain. This does not mean it is the only application, just the most foundationally important one, for the fair and resillient economic future of mankind.There is a place for Proof of Stake, and other consensus protocols, but not within Bitcoin; merely in Blockchain application networks. Bitcoin must and will remain Proof of Work. I am happy to explain why.My main interest is bluewater-sailing, spiritualism, and achieving positive change for individuals, communities and the world through more intelligent, healthy and forward-thinking use of hardware and software technology.
