Reporting directly to the SVP of Engineering, I was responsible for the management and oversight of engineering personnel in the US region. I was a contract architect and programmer for LAMP-based web applications. I researched, recommended and customized off-the-shelf technologies in the areas of e-commerce, content management, media serving, blog and community forum.

I led an engineering team within the Concur Cliqbook Travel product group. My primary technical responsibilities were in the areas of data management and data interchange, both file-based and web services. I also designed and implemented a new customer billing system and an e-receipt processing subsystem.

I assisted the CTO with a variety of technology initiatives. I was a key technology member of a cross-departmental research team that defined the corporation's next generation of learning platform and environment. I set up the acquisition and transformation of internal data for analytical usage. I ran the team that implemented and integrated our internal systems with a third-party CRM system (Pivotal). Areas of in-depth research include: cognitive science, adaptive learning strategies, creation and management of ontologies, and effective assessment of knowledge mastery.

I replaced the original static implementation of this site with a modular dynamic system. The result was a Flash presentation layer consisting of a template for each content type (about 20 total) which sat on top of a custom-built business layer and content management store. I instituted a multi-stage build migration process, as well as software configuration management and the general development environment.

I led the development of K12's original learning management system — the Online School (OLS). The OLS is a web application used by tens of thousands of users concurrently throughout the school year. It was architected as an AJAX web application before the term AJAX had been coined. In addition to managing the engineering team, I was personally responsible for the data model, data flows and overall system architecture of the OLS.

Leading a team of twenty-five people, I was responsible for all of the technical and operational aspects surrounding the delivery of OneSoft's OneCommerce product: engineering, data model, build and configuration management, documentation and deployment packaging. OneCommerce was an extensible XML-based platform for creating and using e-commerce business components at a website with an accompanying administrative user interface. The adminstrative interface was a web application built around the XMLHttpRequest API, making it one of the first shipping AJAX applications in the world.

As one of three software architects, I shared responsibility for planning and implementing the evolution of a Windows-based metadata repository product set (PR/OEE). Additionally, I represented Platinum at Object Management Group (OMG) conferences. I also represented our team at company-wide architectural and development conferences.As an architect and lead developer for the PLATINUM enterprise repository extensions for Microsoft Repository (Perx/MSR), I worked closely with the Microsoft Repository development team. We designed Perx/MSR to be a set of services that enhance the baseline Microsoft Repository so that it is more suitable for a large enterprise. Perx/MSR was implemented as an extensible set of COM interfaces that wrap the Microsoft Repository, using COM emulation.

As a member of Best's Advanced Technology Group, I worked on financial software in the areas of budgeting, general ledger, payroll and fixed asset management. I created a family of extensions to the Microsoft Foundation Class (MFC) library providing domain-specific GUI form controls and validators.

I was the technical lead for the creation of the Serius Workbench for Windows (renamed Novell AppBuilder), a visual application development environment. I designed and implemented the run time environment of Serius for Windows, including an event queue manager and an application context switcher. I also designed the Serius Compiler and wrote the back-end. I designed and wrote the API set that allowed third-party developers to create extensions for the development environment.
