I provided Emergency and STAT deliveries of medical supplies and pharmacy drugs, computer parts, anything that had a time stamp for delivery as a Contract Driver for a Large Courier company. I covered a multi-state territory, with a 700 mile radius around St. Louis, working from 2 to 4 pm thru daylight the next day. I put 188,000+ miles on my own vehicle in an 18 month period.I was responsible for my own maintainence and kept excellent records, as well as always arriving at destinations on time. I was able to use my brain for thinking in situations where addresses or customers could not be located to complete delivery. I was always called on during my sleep time for special cargo as I was the 'go to guy to get it done' person.Then fuel hit $4.50 a gallon and the service industury all but shut down around St. Louis.

Update Summer 2015.After playing around some over the last year with selling video off and on to a News app agency, I've rekindled my News Gathering bug. I dug out my Old, but still very active, Press Passes. One issued by a sheriff's department and One from a Motorcycle Lifestyle Website.I have been getting more and more work in both areas of News.-------------With scanner use since age 15, would arrive at fires, car crashes, robberies, murders, etc and video for local news station I worked for in another capacity, (control room engineer). Mostly overnight and weekend work. Worked alongside city police, county sheriffs, state highway patrol, firefighters, DEA, FBI, airport authority, etc. Was able to interact well with all agencies and allowed more access to crime scenes than other TV crews because of it. Independant contractor status.

Engineer duties included working the control board, selecting proper commercials, pre-taped shows, live shows from satellites, direct feed from news room, and audio controls for all. Position required exact, specific timing to coordinate with national feed. Dead Air or overlap was a big No-No! Was also part of the morning news crew in multiple capacities at different times, to cover for others. Programed satellites to record shows for later playback, inserted video cassettes for live news. Finding commercial carts on shelves and setting them up for proper insertion into cart players for playback during our black screen or national commercial overplays. Keeping up to the minute logbooks for billing of commercials, problems with tapes or feeds, and engineering info. Had to have the knowledge and ability to perform any and all function positions relating to live TV, and did so exemplary. I was a valued employee that was called on at anytime extra help was needed. Worked with a team on day/evening shifts. Worked solo on overnights, responsible for complete operation of $10 million dollar station and did so to everyone's expectations and then some.When not working the control room, was a free lance videographer for the first year or so, shooting video of happening news around the state, when there was no other cameraman available, local, or long distance. I eventually started my own videography business (MINGA), as I was producing more video on overnights and weekends than the stations paid crews were. Yes, I was that good!I left in late 1998 when I moved to Western Montana, hoping to spend more time with my son.
