During my two years in college, I undertook work experience at a care home. Whilst at this placement the section I worked in was Wrekin Court and Wellington Court Nursing Home. For the first week I was assisted by a Steward and tasks involved maintaining hygiene and safety of the dining room and kitchen, and also providing residents with food and medicine on time. For the second week I was assisted by a Social Co-ordinator and tasks involved communicating with residents and getting them to be socially active. I especially enjoyed these roles as I had the chance to spend time with the residents and help in activities which they enjoyed. During these two weeks I built up on my communication skills towards residents which also boosted my confidence in general towards others. My networking skills also developed such as; being able to work with others successfully.

This involved greeting and helping customers; this was an opportunity for me to meet lots of different people and made me feel more confident communicating with others. Whilst I was there I worked with others’ which helped me maintain a good relationship with my colleagues. My job involved unpacking and putting up stock/ talking to the customers and providing support .
