When freelancing at schools, I am the temporary Instructor and Sound Designer, responsible for creating lesson plans and day-to-day schedule for the tech students, teaching the basic uses of Q-Lab. I have to read all scripts, attend production meetings, and have valuable ideas to contribute to the team. My job is to create original sound elements through foley art, field recording or producing/composing. I am also responsible for creating original soundscapes and effects is a must, this means I will also be creating a show file, preferably in Q-Lab to have the ability to isolate all atmospheric sounds or music. If it's a musical, there is a lot of communication between the musicians and I, as far as what they need to hear. I am responsible for setting up monitors for the artists and talent on stage, patching the band into the house PA, as well as all principle microphones.

My job is to create original sound elements through foley art and field recording; and provide all required sounds that accompany the action taking place on screen. I am also responsible for mixing and synchronizing all dialogue and sound effects to the picture.

It is my job to operate the audio recording equipment on set. My responsibilities are to properly position microphones on principle actors in a way that won't be seen by the camera, but will still capture the best quality dialogue and sounds. I am responsible for making sure all input levels are recorded and mixed clean and are properly labeled for the editor(s). I may also have to mic the environment or set, whenever necessary.

As a freelance Audio Engineer / Technician, I some times load in the venue with speakers, microphones, consoles and backline. I am responsible for setting up backline, microphone selection and placement, speaker placement and patching the stage for all events. Before every show I have to make sure all equipment is properly working and sounds adequate (this is prior to the artist(s) and band arriving for sound check) It is my job to maintenance all equipment such as microphones, cables, amps, wedges, etc. I help with load-ins, load-outs, and also assist lighting and video. As a Front of House Engineer it is my job to mix the show for the audiences enjoyment and pleasure. When doing Monitors, I am on stage, catering to the artist(s) and band, making sure that everyone has what they need and is hearing what they need to hear through their personal wedges or IEMs; NO Feedback! It is my job to make sure there are no mishaps on stage, and if anything were to happen it is my responsibility to find or create the solution. Often time when doing monitors, I am also a stagehand.
