I believe the only true limits are the ones we give ourselves. I am enthusiastic and passionate about helping the public to reach their healthcare goals and the enrichment of healthcare professionals through education and ongoing self-improvement. I enjoy problem-solving and thinking outside the box to create new solutions based on best practices. I am a strong team player that enjoys servings as well as leading to help my team and those I work with achieve their goals.I enjoyed fifteen years in clinical medicine before continuing my education and graduating from Boise State University with a bachelor’s degree in Health Information Management. Clinical medicine taught me the value of teamwork, documentation, excellence, and evidence-based, high-quality care. My passion to learn continues to drive me forward and after ten years as a leader in Health Information Management, I am now finishing my MHA through the University of St. Augustine for the Health Sciences and will be graduating with high honors in August 2020, as well as beginning my doctorate in Health Care Education and Executive Leadership. I plan to never stop learning and helping others grow along the way.Healthcare and education are my passions and I am excited and at my best when giving back to my community through those areas. I strive to improve the lives of patients, customers, and colleagues to the best of my ability every day. I have led HIM departments at small and large organizations and oversaw HIM functions such as ROI, Coding, Policy writing, EHR implementation, Peer Review, Medical Staff liaison, Transcription, Analysis, Compliance, Quality Assurance, and Physician Suspension. I have had the privilege of being a Privacy Officer, investigator, and educator, working closely with all levels of staff and providers from across the health system. I am delighted to be in a field of healthcare that provides so much support to patients to learn and manage their private health information.I enjoy teaching and have been honored to organize and lead courses on ICD-10 coding and billing, Medicare and Medicaid policy, Professional communication, Customer service, Documentation Improvement, and Compliance, and HIPAA/ Privacy. I hope to continue my role as an educator by developing courses and programs that aid in the growth of my organization and teaching courses to other healthcare professionals at the college and university level. Healthcare is an ever-evolving field and my goal is to be a trusted, instrumental, and impactful leader in the course of that change.
