As an educator, activist, and organizer I have traveled the country to advance progressive law & policy, empower communities, and change hearts and minds. As a musician, I have performed and recorded with musicians across many margins--women, trans people, queer people, people of color, and more. The intersection of these two worlds is what led me to co-found, Better World Collaborative. BWC is a social impact consultancy that aims to broaden the conversation of social change by using grassroots and creative practice approaches. I came of age in the time of grunge and post-punk music, in a city fueled with racial and economic division. As a young queer punk, art and music meant community; community meant refuge but it also meant difficult dialogue, accountability, and growth. As an adult, I strongly believe that the same community that taught me how to express difference with powerchords, mosh pits, and collective organizing is the same that can teach us all how to be a better colleagues, partners, friends, and humans. My current work is the natural evolution of community engagement, challenges, successes, failures, and traumas alike. I know that we can build a better world if we stop using the frameworks we think we HAVE to use and instead use the frameworks that have already demonstrated what change can look like.
