I've been employed by Ancestry® since 2004 and in the role of Corporate Genealogist since 2011. You may know me as The Barefoot Genealogist from the YouTube series by the same name, started in 2011.My primary responsibilities are:-internal and external family history education;-creating, producing, and starring in the Ancestry YouTube series, The Barefoot Genealogist, the Ancestry Facebook Live Learning sessions, and the Instagram series, Genealogy In A Minute;-interacting with the Ancestry community through social media;-providing internal genealogy education and user feedback for Product Management and UX teams;-speaking at conferences and events, teaching basic genealogy methodology and Ancestry site usage.As a member of the Research and Editorial Team, I worked on genealogy research projects for the Ancestry Marketing and PR teams, including genetic genealogy research for the TV show, Long Lost Family.In various roles on the Ancestry Content Team over the course of my first seven years at Ancestry:I was a key member of the Ancestry World Archives Project startup team- helping people preserve historical records. My main responsibilities included acquisition, engagement and retention of new communities of keyers.I managed the Indexing team in digital production services, responsible for converting, keying, auditing genealogical records for posting on Ancestry suite of websites.I identified genealogically significant records held by repositories in the British Isles and Australia and provided detailed reporting on the individual collections, negotiating with archives and libraries for access to these records so we could digitize them, index them, and post them in searchable online databases for the Ancestry suite of websites. Managed a team of Western European content acquisitionists.
