Upon graduating in 2022, I had the privilege of working with an organization that meant a lot to me, my fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi Headquarters. Naturally, I was fully ready to get out of my comfort zone and move across the country from New Hampshire to Carmel, Indiana. Throughout college I had learned to be uncomfortable but during my time working for Alpha Sigma Phi I had to break down various social and professional roadblocks that had stood in my way in the past. I had to get comfortable being a fish out of water presenting in front of student organizations of up to 100 students, talking to professionals from all over the country with varying years of experience, inspiring students to do something new by being a founding father and overall further my leadership/ organization skills juggling the nuances of starting an organization in touch with college culture. During my time at Keene State College, I've learned many valuable skills in and out of my major. I've excelled in my classes and did very well writing for The Equinox newspaper alongside my time doing broadcast work for KSC-TV news. I had the chance to develop my leadership through the major as well during my year as Opinions Editor. This leadership ability brought about me being inducted into the Pi Delta Epsilon-Alpha Phi Gamma Journalism Honor Society and allowed me to win a 3rd place editorial award from the Society for Collegiate Journalists. Outside of Journalism, my leadership continues with my time on Keene State Orientation staff along with my fraternity Alpha Sigma Phi. I began as a regular Orientation Leader my first year on staff and then was fortunate enough to be promoted to Cluster Leader overseeing a group of Orientation Leaders. In my fraternity, I had a tremendous opportunity to learn new skills through my role as VP of Finance and President. As President, I brought about very positive change in the organization through success not seen in years from increased emphasis on recruitment and raising money for charity. Under my leadership, my fraternity won our first ever gold cup, recognizing us as a top ten chapter in the nation, our first bronze cup award for accreditation from our national organization in 4 years and saw 366% improvement in recruitment compared to the prior year. These achievements from my college career culminated in my greatest honor; being one of twelve graduating seniors in the whole nation/ first in my chapter's history to be inducted into the Alpha Sigma Phi Undergraduate Hall of Fame. Coordinator Of ExpansionAlpha Sigma Phi Fraternity Jul 2022 - Jun 2023Carmel, Indiana, United StatesDuring my time working for Alpha Sigma Phi Fraternity Headquarters, I have had an immense opportunity to grow socially and professionally doing a familiar concept in the form of recruiting, but in a much different way. While I had an entire Executive Board of the most capable men my chapter had to offer during my time as President during my undergrad, being a Coordinator of Expansion starting entirely new chapters proved to be a new challenge in and of itself. I was challenged to properly manage my time between scheduling meeting with potential interested students, connecting with as many faculty/ staff and student organizations on both campuses, running a table to meet new students, and running events for the group as well. This role pushed me in ways I never expected by forcing me to reconsider the way I build relationships with others, the way I inspire others, and just generally push myself to present myself in the utmost manner to put the group in the best position to succeed. The result after a year of this pressure, was a significant loss of fear when it comes to being in uncomfortable situations, a preparedness for building relationships with all sorts of different people from students to faculty who've been on campus for decades, and two strongly bonded groups of leaders who are ready to accomplish great things within their inidvidual college communities. -
