Cristian Machuca founded Machuca Ventures in 2023 after a successful career in multifamily real estate investment and asset management. Cristian’s varied background in the multifamily space includes managing capital allocations within large public REIT portfolios as well as the acquisition of institutional (100+ units) multifamily properties and development sites for private family offices.Prior to founding his firm, Cristian was a Senior Associate at Cypress Equity Investments (“CEI”), where he supported the successful acquisition of development sites and existing properties representing $386MM in total project value. At CEI, Cristian raised $242M of debt and equity and led the due diligence and closing of multiple transactions. Prior to CEI, Cristian was a Senior Associate at Essex Property Trust where he managed a team that oversaw the development of revenue generating (i.e., value-add) capex investments for a portfolio of 35,000 units. At Essex, Cristian guided the annual budgeting of $100M+ capital outlays throughout the Essex portfolio to maximize profitability and create value.Cristian began his career at BCEG International, the investment arm of Beijing Construction Engineering Group, a Top 50 ENR General Contractor, supporting multifamily value-add acquisitions and developments.Cristian Received his BS in Business Administration from The Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley. Cristian is Co-Chair of the Economic Development Committee at The Valley Economic Alliance, a leading regional economic development non-profit. When Cristian isn’t busy pursuing deals, he enjoys reading biographies, exercising, and his daily cold shower.
