Master in Public Policy and Management from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru (PUCP) with a postgraduate degree in Governance and Political Management from George Washington University. For 15 years, she has worked in the environmental and forestry sector in Peru, as an official of the Ministry of the Environment of Peru, the National Forestry and Wildlife Service, and CONAM, as well as a consultant, promoting social change initiatives on issues such as climate change, legal logging, wildlife trafficking, and protected areas. Her consulting work includes projects with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the Center for International Forestry Research (CIFOR), USAID, among others. She was a U.S. Department of State fellow for the "Science for Parks, Parks for Science" program in 2017. She was a Peruvian delegate to Rio+20 (Brazil), COP20 (Peru), COP21 (France), and COP15 (Canada). Currently, she is a lecturer at the School of Government and Public Policy at PUCP and a member of the Forests+People team at Michigan State University, PUCP, and CIFOR. She is also co-director of the project "Science and Effective Management of Protected Natural Areas in Peru," implemented by Wake Forest University, Colorado State University, and PUCP, with funding from the Moore Foundation.
