Profile bio

About Cristina Carrillo

I started working in financial education over 20 years ago. Along the way, there have been alternating moments of great enthusiasm, where you feel it is a necessary and purposeful endeavour, and others of frustration when it seems impossible to achieve a real impact on people's lives. In my current role, I have achieved the ideal state of "enthusiastic realism." We live in a consumer society with an increasingly complex financial system, and it is not enough to provide people with the knowledge, tools, and skills to manage their money better: it is necessary to create a transparent environment in which they can understand and assert their rights as financial consumers.Throughout these years, I have had the opportunity to work for a variety of organizations (public, private, and third sector) in Spain and Latin America. Some memorable challenges include:• As Deputy Director of Financial Education at the National Securities Market Commission (CNMV) of Spain, I acted as the technical secretary of the Permanent Working Group for the National Financial Education Strategy (Bank of Spain - CNMV). I also coordinated the design and implementation of various financial education initiatives for adults and high school students, as well as the "Finances for Everyone" portal launch in 2008.• The establishment of Addkeen Group in Argentina in 2011. With an excellent team of professionals currently in charge, we developed strategies and financial inclusion and education programs for public, private, and third-sector entities, reaching over 34,000 people nationwide.• As an independent consultant, I designed financial education strategies and programs for various entities, including the National Securities Commission of Argentina, the National Bank of Costa Rica, and Banco Macro (Argentina), for whom we created the country's first and most ambitious financial education program (www.cuentassanas.com.ar). Additionally, for Banco Macro, I developed the "Clear Contracts" project, involving rewriting and simplifying all the bank's contracts (to make them understandable to clients) and training professionals in the institution's Legal Department.• The publication of the book "Peter Pan Doesn't Want to Retire" in 2015, used by economics teachers in academic settings, and my contribution to The Routledge Handbook on Financial Literacy (2022), with the chapter "Financial Education in South America."

Listed skills include Coaching, Coaching Financiero, Financial Literacy Training, Responsabilidad Social, and 21 others.
