My scientific activity is mainly focused in dietary and nutritional assessment as the major determinants of human health. This activity has comprised the understanding of qualitative and quantitative links between dietary patterns, nutritional phenotype and risk factors for diet-related chronic diseases. The main goals of my research have been: i) Applying intensively LC-MS driven untargeted and targeted metabolomics analysis to understand how new dietary biomarkers identified modulate diet-disease risk associations using pathway and network approaches; ii) The identification of robust “metabolic signatures of eating habits” for a range of foods of high public health significance; iii) To define and develop new methodological strategies for the biomarker discovery; iv) The development of an in-house human metabolome database and bioinformatic and biostatistics tools for the interpretation and identification of new biomarkers.Nutrition. Profesor Titular Universidad-Associate ProfessorUniversity Of Barcelona Dec 2005 - Mar 2020Nutrition & Food Science DeptCristina Andres-Lacueva is Associate Professor at the Nutrition and Food Science Departmentof the Pharmacy School at the University of Barcelona (UB) (candres@ub.edu).She leads the Biomarkers & Nutritional and Food Metabolomics Group at the UB (www.nutrimetabolomics.com).Dr Cristina Andres-Lacueva conducts research into the role of diet in the development of obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases, with a particular interest in Mediterranean diet. The research focuses on dietary patterns, foods and specific dietary components, for example from grape, wine, nuts, olive oil, cocoa, berries, using both reported intakes and biomarkers, and is based on large-scale cohort studies and dietary intervention studies. Current funding is focused on identifying robust, sensitive and reliable biomarkers, based on their bioavailability, activity and relationship with the intake of some foods (markers of consumption), and on understanding their association with obesity, aging and the reduction of cardiovascular risk (markers of effect). The methodology applied is based on targeted and/or non-targeted studies using a metabolomic approach (LC-MS/MS, OrbiTrap, RMN).ADVISORY BOARDS- Scientific Area Manager: Agricultural and Agri-Food Sciences (CAA).Subarea: Food Science and Technology (ALI) at the Spanish Research Agency (AEI)- Member of the Steering Committee JRC (EC) Foresight study - Tomorrow's healthy society research priorities for foods and diet. Horizon 2020.- Member of the Committee of experts on the development and consensus of dietary recommendations in the European adult population: Joint Research centre (JRC)-The European Commission- Spanish Coordinator for the COST Action POSITVe.
