Education researcher, instructor, and consultant driven by a desire to advance educational equity and justice for historically marginalized communities and to partner with educators and districts in this important work.I have over 13 years of experience conducting field-based research on core issues in education related to diversity, inclusion, and belonging, including racial and linguistic inclusion, the experiences of first and second-generation immigrant students, critical multicultural education, and civic education for social transformation. I've also taught graduate courses and designed professional development for educational leaders and in-service teachers on school improvement strategies, leadership for equity and social justice, and serving newcomer students from a whole-child perspective. Previously, I served on a governor-appointed committee to make recommendations to the Nevada Department of Education on policy changes to better support multilingual learners across the state. My professional passion is to support educators, school leaders, and other partners in using data and research-based strategies to collectively building more equitable school systems that celebrate students' full humanity and diverse cultural assets.
