I am leading a team to implement a culture of continuous improvement at Helen DeVos Children's Hospital. We are focused on teaching/coaching problem solving/A-3 thinking to front line leadership. We will also be coaching senior leaders on how to interact with the new problem solving approach. Our goal is that the front-line leaders will then become the primary coaches for problem solving/A-3 thinking within their teams.I facilitated a kaizen event to improve the efficiency and accuracy of financial transactions between the different legal entities at Spectrum Health. The bulk of the event focused on standardizing when and how transactions should be made, including definitions of materiality and a detailed calendar to support the month-end close process.I facilitated a kaizen event with Nutrition Services at Blodgett Hospital focused on improving the efficiency of room service. We mapped the current state process and then performed a waste walk (using TIM P WOOD) at the gemba to identify waste. We emphasized taking small, quick actions for improvement instead of seeking to revamp the entire process.
