As immediate past chair of IABC I support the ongoing implementation of the strategic direction developed over the previous 12 months the associated initiatives. I support the Chair, IEB and Executive Director as an adviser and lead both the nominations and personnel committee.The main role this year is to support ongoing personnel issues within the association, conduct the nominations process for future IEB members and advise on by-law related matters.This role is completes six years on the international executive board, where I lead the association and board in developing and implementing a new strategic plan for the association.

I was the 2011/12 Chair of IABC's international executive board. As part of my six year tenure on the executive board I moved into the strategic leadership role, serving as vice chair in 2010/11. During my time as Chair I lead the board and association through the beginnings of major change, both in strategic direction and how the association operates.I lead the development of a new strategic plan to change the business at a time where associations were having to re-invent themselves to stay relevant. This including having to find a new executive for the association and re-align the strategic direction with the operations to look at new revenue opportunities. The strategic plan lead to a focus on major development in the areas of content to support professionals in communication, as well as a stronger focus on career development including establishing professional standards and career paths. Final a focus on the business to bring the Association up to date with needs from members. I implemented a number of task forces to work on building new business in line with the new strategy and to re-evaluate some of the current programs and activities the association offers. Much of what was achieved by these task forces will have a lasting impact in positioning the association for future growth in membership, revenue and relevance within the profession. I was appointed to the role of Corporate Internal Communications Manager, as a consistent strategy had never been in place for employee communications. In the time I was in this role I built the strategy and internal communications team and network across the company. I implemented a management system for all channels of communication including the company intranet and measures for communications company wide. During 2001 I focused on the office environment of the future for Ericsson operations in Australia. This included defining the long-term strategy and developing an environment that will support communication, & knowledge sharing in the company.The strategy for 2000, 2001, 2002 and 2003 was delivered ahead of time and the results and feedback across the company was extremely positive. Internal communications in Ericsson Australia was benchmarked as best practice for Ericsson Globally.
