I spent 12 weeks at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. During this time I was able to progress from observation to independently seeing patients as an occupational therapy student in all units throughout the hospital including orthopedics, cardiac care unit, ICU, medical surgery, heart and neurovascular unit, and oncology.

The Ronald McDonald House Charities provides a "home away from home" for families to stay while their ill or injured child stays in the nearby hospital. The House provides private bedrooms and bathrooms, a fully stocked kitchen, laundry facilities, playroom, and shared living spaces to promote families leaning on each other for support during this difficult time.During my time here I:-checked families into the House -coordinated and supervised weekly volunteers-comforted families during their difficult time-oversaw the House during overnight hours -cleaned House to ensure the families' "home away from home" was as comforting as possible
