Litigation support for eminent domain matters in the Transportation Unit at the Department of Law. Primarily drafting case initiating pleadings, disvovery requests and provide trial assistance.

Assists 2 Partners (4 total) and 7 Associates (9 total). Primarily tasked with proofreading legal correspondence and litigation pleadings for accuracy, readability and content. Occasional paralegal responsibilities, including calendaring deadlines, public record document review for Open Records Requests, and trial preparation. Some experience with client billing and invoicing.

Responsible of a case load of 30-40 individual cases varying from car accidents, slip and falls, and insurance breach of contract. Conducted legal research, including use of Westlaw and Lexis Nexus. Drafted legal documents, primarily discovery pleadings, and reviewing discovery documents (redacting and logging privileged documents, indexing discovery).

I am responsible for preparing and filing litigation documents on the ICCES E-filing court system. I draft pleadings, including, but not limited to, Complaints, discovery, Notices, and Motions. I am responsible for scheduling depositions and ADR settlement conferences. I also contact clients and attorneys and serve as a liaison between them regarding status updates and gathering information to comply with Colorado Civil Procedure. I currently assist in daily activity in the office, such as answering phones, and answering emails. At this time, I am tasked with 80 cases in litigation and over 200 cases in non-litigation.

Provided tours for prospective students. Gave general overviews of the campus and what the school has to offer as well as answered an array of questions that varied from student life, academics and housing.

Served as a resource for housing students by answering student questions and answering phones during work shifts. Planned events for the residents that included student development and leadership opportunities throughout the year.
