Working as a Senior Scientist, Jack focused on restoration and commercial management of wild salmon fisheries in both the Western US and Bristol Bay, Alaska.From there, Jack’s love of food progressed and he founded a wholesale seafood distribution company, “Hole Fish Co.” in the Intermountain West. Jack cultivated an award-winning company strategically focused on sustainable seafood and completed a successful exit.Next, Jack joined the Marine Stewardship Council, a global non-profit that manages a science-based certification program to end overfishing by using a “Blue Fish” eco-label on CPG products so partners can certify for consumers that their seafood is harvested sustainably. Jack has worked collaboratively with the major companies in Retail Operations and Foodservice to adopt the eco-label program, helping guide the team to explosive growth and transform the US seafood market. Jack is proud that seafood lovers now know to look for the MSC “blue fish” on pack and in almost every retail grocery store in the country.
