Profile bio

About Colby Ryan

When I was at Texas A&M, I was in the Corps of Cadets and the Fightin' Texas Aggie Band as I wanted to have leadership experience moving forward in life. I orginally planned on joing the Navy through Nuclear Engineering. However, my interest in the Navy fell through when most of the scholarships available for my year were cut. In the years following, I finally admitted to myself that I needed to switch majors. I wound up leaving the university after I finished the Corps, and returned a year later in a new department: Electronic Systems Engineering Technology. The only way I can explain my first semester back is that I fell in love. This was what I was meant to do. This is where I was supposed to be. That first semester back I got above a 3.0 GPA and a professor invited me to join his undergraduate research lab, the Mobile Integrated Solutions Laboratory. Near the end of my second semester that same professor told me that he wanted me to take over as student lab manager. I oversaw and assisted with numerous projects that others were working on in the lab while carrying out my own funded research project. Even through all this extra work I maintained high grades, including getting a 4.0 and making the Dean's list. My degree concluded with a highly successful Capstone project which designed the electronics that served as the facility manager for a Class-1E Facility that was launched to and installed on the International Space Station in December 2018.Engineers see success through actions and results. Since graduating, I have been an integral member of the engineering team at Paragon Innovations. Mainly doing hardware design despite my initial leaning towards embedded software, I have been able to provide significant contributions to our projects due to considering software/firmware related needs when making hardware design decisions. Through numerous projects (system architecture planning, schematics, pcb layout, then follow through with board bringup and testing into production), I have gained experience in all manner of industries and technologies. One in particular that became a large calling due to filling a need at Paragon, was the world of RF, antenna selection (especially with respect to tiny devices), and antenna tuning.

Listed skills include Embedded Software, Electronic Circuit Design, Digital Electronics, Embedded Systems, and 12 others.
