As the sole communications team member for the Winnipeg facility, I had responsibility for the development and execution of internal communications for an employee base of 1,300 across multiple locations (Winnipeg, Ottawa, Vancouver) through a variety of internal communication tools (ie. Quarterly Town Hall meetings with live video broadcasts from Winnipeg to Ottawa (with live French simultaneous translation), weekly e-bulletin, monthly employee magazine, Intranet, Mint TV, posters, etc.). I established a proven track record for planning and successfully executing logistically challenging events for internal and external audiences. A few notable highlights during my time at the Mint include: planning and execution of a high profile event with the striking of the last penny in Canada with Finance Minister Jim Flaherty; executing a coin launch celebrating the return of the Winnipeg Jets with then Prime Minister of Canada, Stephen Harper, planning and executing a coin unveil event with Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall celebrating the 75th Anniversary of The Royal Winnipeg Ballet, and planning for the Mint to be a stop on Amazing Race Canada.

As a manager of two team members (Communications Coordinator and Graphic Designer), I was responsible for the Gallery’s advertising strategy, website content, print publication, annual report, and all internal/external communication and marketing pieces and management of a $200,000 budget. I also developed marketing plans for exhibitions, events, and programs which included extensive media relations outreach, including acting as spokesperson on many occasions. I successfully coordinated private and public events with detailed logistical requirements for up to 1,500 people, including developing event plans, detailed budgets, agendas, speeches for senior management and Board members, coordinating staff/volunteer schedules, along with booking entertainment and catering.

As the first communications team member for Manitoba's first Metis Child and Family Services Agency, I implemented internal and external communication plans including the development of communication policies and procedures for the new agency. This included policies and guidelines for media interaction including briefings, responding to media, outreach and monitoring. I also developed news releases, speeches, news articles, presentations, brochures, external website, the annual report and corporate branding for the organization. In addition, I managed details of planning internal / external events for up to 500 people including information sessions, presentations, news conferences, staff meetings and the opening event for Manitoba's first Metis Child and Family Services Agency.

Media Relations Department 1998 - 2001As part of a new Media Relations team for Investors Group, I was responsible for coordinating national media relations campaigns, including the development of project plans, budgets, timelines, media lists, project evaluations and organizing media conferences. I coordinated media training sessions across Canada, along with print, broadcast and electronic media monitoring, while supporting local initiatives to raise awareness of regional events. I also coordinated a series of weekly print articles on financial planning.Human Resources Department 1990 – 1998I joined the Human Resources department as Administrative Assistant and was promoted to Staff Programs – Human Resources Administrator, to Team Leader of Administrative Services then Benefits Administrator. These positions provided me with the opportunity to work with a wide range of individuals from the administrative level to senior executives. As Team Leader I was responsible for the supervision of two staff members, providing training, guidance, and performance evaluations while managing multiple projects and budgets.
