About Crystal Rogers
My lab studies the molecular mechanisms that drive neural crest cell development in chicken (Gallus gallus), quail (Coturnix japonica), and amphibian (Ambystoma mexicanum) embryos. More specifically, I am interested in identifying and characterizing genes involved in the specification, survival, and epithelial to mesenchymal transition (EMT) of neural crest cells. I hope to identify novel genes/proteins that control neural crest development and respond to genetic and environmental perturbations. #DevBio, #NeuralCrest, #UndergradResearch, #Teratogens, #DEI, #SocialJusticeSpecialties: Developmental and molecular biology

Associate Professor
Assistant Professor
Postdoctoral Researcher
My project focuses on studying the function of newly identified genes involved in neural crest cell development. Ultimately I hope to characterize these genes in cell migration in embryonic development and during the transition from tumor development to metastatic cancer.
Contract Editor
Postdoctoral Fellow
My postdoctoral project was to determine if FGF signaling is required for the induction of all early neural genes at the onset of CNS development. More specifically, we studied the regulation of the early neural genes, zicr1, geminin, sox2, sox3, and foxd5a by the secreted morphogens FGF and BMP, and their downstream effectors.
