With 13 years experience in the healthcare as a medical transcriptionist, I realized quickly that working in the healthcare industry is my passion. Life happened and I decided to further my education and career and take on medical coding through AAPC. May 2023 I finished my coursework and February 2024 I took my CPC exam and passed, officially a CPC-A.I bring with me great knowledge and experience in medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, as well as working with electronic health records and working on my own as well as with a team to ensure that information was uploaded into the patient's chart accurately and timely. My expertise was in Radiology, Pediatrics, and Internal Medicine. However, I did work with hospital notes (admission and discharge). Even though I didn't have direct patient contact, it brought me pride knowing that I had something to do with the patient's care. I have a keen eye at noticing mistakes or discrepancies and querying providers regarding so. Hard skills include: CPT coding and guidelines, ICD-10-CM coding and guidelines, HCPCS, EMR, CMS, AMA, medical terminology, anatomy & physiology, Radiology, Pediatrics, production standards, keen eye, fast learner at mastering new skills, medical transcription, personable and dependable. I am fascinated with anything medicine and enjoy researching and solving problems. It's exciting and never dull! I worked in clinic as well as remote and enjoyed both.I am an active member in AAPC and will be continuing my education. Medical coding is ever-changing that makes it fun and exciting. Future goals are to obtain more credentials to advance my career to the fullest! I know I can bring it and won't disappoint.Besides being deeply passionate about this field, I'm a mom of two girls and a big fluffy dog named Nelson.
