Managed high-profile investigations into major domestic and international railroad, aviation, highway, marine and pipeline accidents that involved the transportation of hazardous materials. - Completed comprehensive analyses of circumstances of accidents to determine the probable causes and identify deficiencies in or compliance issues with company policies/procedures, safety management systems, federal regulations, industry standards, etc. that allowed the accidents to occur;- Identified failures in tank cars, cargo tanks, pipelines, pressure vessels and other containers that enabled unintended hazardous material releases, and assisted with engineering analyses of components to determine failure mechanisms; - Developed safety recommendations that resulted in changes to federal rules and regulations, company policies and procedures, and industry standards and the prevention of similar accidents;- Authored comprehensive accident investigation reports to assure that outcomes of investigations were plainly and effectively communicated to members of the Safety Board, responsible parties and the general public;- Developed and delivered high-quality presentations documenting the involvement of hazardous materials in accidents, relevant findings and safety recommendations to the Safety Board during public meetings; and- Served on Technical Panel for Public Hearings related to major domestic transportation accidents to obtain factual information from witnesses during public testimony.
