My position at ABC is one of innovation and streamlining, working primarily within the administration department. I do a lot of process automation - taking complex tasks, breaking them down into their component parts, and then building tools to help auditors and administrators do their jobs effectively. I've written numerous macros, shell scripts and batch files, and I'm in charge of maintaining and developing our job management and filing software. As a jack-of-all-trades, I'm first port of call for any odd problems that crop up with data, any new ideas that need to be tested or implemented, and everyday technical support questions around Office and Excel.

I took some time out to take care of my health, study a few courses, and do a lot of freelance writing and editing for friends and family.

Working with professional voice actors, recording unabridged audiobooks and then editing with Pro Tools on Apple hardware to create the final product on CD, Cassette and MP3, working to monthly deadlines. I became responsible for the technical side of the operation on an unofficial basis, updating and upgrading the Macs and sorting out errant noises and glitches in the studio. In September 2011, I proposed and implemented a review of recording practices, retraining staff and introducing modern production methods that are competitive in the digital age.

Writing and editing for the Africa and Middle East Telecom Week, an international weekly online publication dealing with the mobile phone and telecoms industry in the developing world. I was contracted to update several chapters of the Africa Mobile Factbook, a reference work detailing developments in the industry over the last ten years.
