About Crystal Thornton

Crystal Nevada Thornton is a native of Topeka, Kansas and a direct descendant of “Brown vs. The Topeka Board of Education Plaintiffs in the landmark case. She received the National Award for Leadership from the Brown Foundation in commemoration of its 20th anniversary. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Telecommunications and Film from Eastern Michigan University and was honored by EMU with the prestigious Alumni Achievement Award. She studied studio and film production at the Disney MGM Studios in Orlando, Florida and began her television career as a news anchor in Eastern North Carolina. Crystal’s career in radio and television has moved her from coast to coast for more than a decade. Crystal was a primary news anchor for WGHP-TV FOX 8 In High Point, NC, KDAF-TV in Dallas, Texas where she was one of the original anchors to launch WB33 news at nine. She also produced and hosted the station’s Emmy nominated Community affairs program “DFW Close Up.” Crystal has also worked as a Primary News Anchor in Portland, Oregon, Corpus Christi, Texas and Washington, North Carolina.Until recently, she was lovin’ on audiences, weekday mornings from six to ten and Sundays from noon to six on Portland’s ‘104.1 The Fish.” Crystal loved encouraging and uplifting Fish listeners. And if there isn’t any sunshine in the Pacific Northwest, she’s sure to bring it. Crystal also works with local non-profit organizations. And when she's not doing that, she may be taking a fitness class, cheering her son on in sports, traveling or catching a play. Crystal has a passion for the arts and is also an accomplished vocal recording artist. Her first solo project self titled; Crystal Thornton “A Little Lower than the Angels" has been heard internationally through The Trinity Broadcast Network and Total Christian Television. She is currently working on her second music project to be released this later year.
