OVERVIEWI supported New Product Development in the design of Hoffman branded enclosures and accessories. I was part of the biggest global product development project the company had in 20 years with key design responsibilities. We have successfully met key deliverables and launched a large product portfolio which consisted of over 1700 SKU’s with multiple innovative features. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• Lead the design and development of multiple products and accessories• Coordinate prototyping and testing of components and full products• Oversee and mentor design engineering interns/CO-OP’s• Inform and present to key stake holders and sales about project status• Lead a global team in the final documentation of over 1700 SKU’s and tens of thousands of models and drawings. • Work with a cross-functional team to meet deliverables and requirements• Assist marketing with educating sales teams about new products• Join Marketing and Product Managers during customer visits and VOC research KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Completed the design of a Modular Seismic enclosure system that meets Telcordia GR-63, Zone 4, requirements rated at 1000 lbs. This was a project that was deemed “impossible” and was something that many have tried over a 20+ year period within the company. • Led multiple leading design roles within the largest project for the company in over 20 years. • Led the documentation of the entire Proline G2 portfolio through a global team of engineers and designers• Designed a proprietary modular disconnect system
Mechanical Design Engineer
OVERVIEWCompleted the mechanical design of multiple process automation machines for the use in assembling, testing, or inspecting partial or complete products within the medical, automotive, and industrial markets. Worked in conjunction with a Controls Engineer KEY RESPONSIBILITIES• Led the mechanical design of custom process automation machines from concept to customer install• Assisted the lead Controls Engineer to successfully complete the electrical, programming, and overall controls of the machines• Led mechanical design reviews with internal and external teams• Created and controlled 3D models, 2D drawings, BOM’s, installation instructions, and full design packets for each project• Ensured projects were done on time and on budget• Worked with suppliers on the quoting and procurement of standard and custom componentsKEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS• Completed the ground-up mechanical design of five complete process automation machines.1. Semi-automated machine with three stations that was used to heat stake and trim the internals of a medical device assembly.2. Machine that tested large pressure transducers to simulate a 30-year life under sea. Required the design of high pressure plumbing and multistage gas boosters to boost Nitrogen pressures from 80 psi to 40,000 psi. 3. Large automated machine used to pack and complete final inspection of pacemakers. 4. Machine used to inspect pacemaker leads.5. Machine that was used to measure the weight and thickness of a wide range of catalytic converter mats, print the final details on the mats, and either discard or pass the mats based on if it met specifications. • Made upgrades to three existing machines in the fields to process new revisions of a product.
