Profile bio

About Christopher Scanlon

I have worked in Public health, social care, community justice and prison settings for over 40 years - latterly as Consultant Psychotherapist in general adult and forensic mental health, and Psychosocial Researcher/Consultant.As a psycho-socialist I describe my professional and academic practice as promoting conversations about 'housing un-housed minds in inhospitable environments’. My position is that it is only through an in-depth, and experientially informed, consideration of the effective functioning of groups, communities, organisations and systems of governance, that we can meaningfully address the personal, inter-personal, familial, systemic, institutional and global processes of traumatisation that are at the roots and branches of most kinds of human suffering, destructiveness, and creativity. My practice as a clinician/teacher and researcher/consultant aims to be trauma-and-cruelty-informed, and experience-near utilising action-based psycho-social, systems-psychodynamic and group-analytic methodologies to raise awareness and promote deliberative action in our families, neighbourhoods, communities, organisations and social groups.

Listed skills include Organizational Development, Leadership Development, Relational Mental Health, Group Dynamics, and 5 others.
