My completed DPhil Thesis is entitled ‘Psycho-social perspectives on the traumatising effect of living and working with violence in distressed and traumatised (dis)organisations’.

Henderson Hospital was a Democratic Therapeutic Community (DTC) with an International reputation as a Centre of Excellence for the treatment of people with complex, enduring and severe emotional, interpersonal and behavioural problems (severe personality disorder). It was savaged and ravaged and forced to close as a result of NHS mis-management in 2008 in its 60th anniversary year.

Core faculty tutor on a 3/4 year post-graduate Diploma/Master of Studies (MSt) programme in psychodynamic Counselling and Psychotherapy leading to registration with UKCP through the Universities Psychotherapy Association (UPA). My role was to act as clinical tutor to all aspects of the programme as well as providing academic leadership to an optional, specialist module in ‘Group Psychotherapy and Organisational Consultation’.

This psycho-dynamically informed multi-disciplinary team provided a rapid response psychosocial assessment, crisis intervention and specialist consultation service to patients referred from primary care, the A&E and other Departments within the Royal London Hospital.
