As the Department Manager for the Networks, Integration & Automation (NIA) department at Burns & McDonnell in Atlanta, I help electric utilities to build out private communications infrastructure, automation and SCADA systems. I'm also helping lead our company in driving the future of digital substations utilizing IEC-61850 technology. As the electric grid prepares for some of the biggest changes in its existence, having reliable, secure communications will be more important than ever.
